I’ve shared this story before, but some of the best advice I’ve ever gotten was from a writing professor who said, “The thing that makes your work interesting isn’t the stuff you’re good at, it’s the stuff you struggle with. Because you’ll either focus on improving those skills until you’re really good or you’ll figure out how to work around it in really cool ways.”

I honestly can’t count how many times I thought someone’s art style was much more fun to look at before they felt they had improved on it. I know people even feel that way about my stuff, too, and I 100% get why, too, though the truth is, the way I used to do my art was the harder and more stressful way! The pencil stuff was grueling! In going from black and white hand-drawn to full color digital I wasn’t “upgrading” to a style I thought was necessarily superior; I like a lot of stuff about it less, but I accepted essentially *downgrading* for the sake of being able to do more work without killing my wrists or using up more of my limited lifespan!

you should always be careful when you fall back asleep again after waking up because sometimes you will just have a pleasant little snooze but sometimes you’ll get trapped in TIME PRISON. unfortunately there is no way to predict this.

My curse this day, alas….
